is facing several charges of domestic abuse following an incident with his wife on new year's eve. as terisa estacio reports, the court appearance was kept out of public view. >> this is video of a florist from several years ago, she recently filed a police report claiming that the sheriff was verbally abusive during their relationship. prosecutors want her to testify during the trial however the defense says her past with the sheriff is not relevant. the hearing will continue on monday. that is when the judge is expected to make a decision about whether or not soras will be allowed to testify. >>pam: instead francisco a

>>pam: and woman in east hall also pleaded not guilty to charges that she murdered her boyfriend. this is the suspect. she called police to her home last month to say that she cut her boyfriend. one police arrived they found the man suffering from a stab wound. he later died. she says she accidentally

cut him in an argument. she is being held without bail on a murder charge. san francisco ban on plastic bags is in lin go -- in limbo. one group says an environmental impact report needs to be conducted before the city can't enacted the ban. the group argues that plastic bags of a smaller car and foot print. the city attorney's office has yet to comment on the case. more details and more news coming up.

greed and then behind bars, these three self-described members from occupy oakland are accused of a hate crime and robbery. haaziq madyun explains what happened and how the suspects were caught. >>haaziq: a hate crime correct to a strong armed robbery, that is what investigators here at oakland police headquarters say, three known protesters did after arguing with a woman on piedmont avenue back on february 22nd. if >> this is a robbery, a felony hate crimes. in this crime, the victim was of verbally abused while derogatory statements referring to her sexual orientation were made to the victim during a crime.

the three main suspects arrested all had previous arrests. very recent arrests tied to the occupy oakland rightists and incidents >>haaziq: the actual crime was videotaped and uploaded to an internet web site which investigators say helped them identify the three suspects in the case. recently, that the deal has been taken down by the user, but oakland police say, not before they were able to obtain a copy of it for their investigation. >>pam: meanwhile, the city of oakland is releasing numbers on just how much money they have spent on the occupy oakland protests. scenes like these from jan. have become common. dozens of police officers in riot gear confronting demonstrators and history. these scenarios are costing oakland millions of dollars.

jeff bush breaks down the figures and gets reactions from residents. >> as you might imagine, the bulk of the money spent went to the police department. they spent nearly 3.1 million in overtime in support staffing for various events. the remaining 600,000 went to operations and material costs for things like portable toilets, meals, supplies and other things like that. i got reaction from people who pretty much said the same thing. >> oakland is a city known for its murders. i feel like police need to pay more attention to that instead of running against stuff like this. >> my reaction is, the money could be spent much better than they are spending it. there are a lot of people who are homeless, a lot of people who do not have food, education could be better.

friends are mourning the death of a popular ski here who was killed by an avalanche on thursday afternoon. 29 year-old benjamin bracket was skiing with two companions in the tahoe back country not far from the alpine meadows ski area. fees are pictures taken after the avalanche. apparently he skied off the top of this hill and was swept almost 500 vertical feet down the mountain. his friends found him buried under 3 ft. of snow and cracked around a small tree. one friend stayed with him while the other look for help. search and rescue teams for eventually able to carry him off of the mountain. he was transported to the hospital and unfortunately died. charles crawford was in tahoe today and spoke with a friend of bracket to find out what kind of man he was fan to the dangers of back country skiing. >>charles: >> ban was a fun guy to be around.

out this weekend. that is good news. earlier today, a car crashed into a fire hydrant sending thousands of gallons of water pouring down the winding brick road. >> like niagara falls. you could have written a raft down the road. >>pam: 84 is driving this car told police that the car in front of him made a sudden stop. he said he swerved out of the way and hit the fire hydrant and said. water receding into the year for a good hour or so. no one was hurt, there are no cetaceans given. j.r stone spoke with a woman whose house was flooded by all of this water. >> this one about a sudden surprise when she came home to a lot of water and a lot of firefighters. >> it is all wet, that is all i know.

>> i was downtown shopping, i got a phone call and it was completely full of water. if the firemen were here, it was just flooded everywhere. >> it came in the front entryway to the hall, through the bathroom, down a hallway and into our bedroom. hour or rug was completely soaked. this was a complete surprise. and never would have thought this happened. if the clauses had to be cleaned out, there was water in the closet areas as well. at this point, no estimate of the damage.

people are confirmed dead in ohio, kentucky and indiana. so far, too small towns in southern indiana look like they took the worst of it. tornadoes rolling to the indiana towns of henry built in marysville. they are just north of the kentucky border. each has a population of about 2000 residents. with the twisters touching down, the mayor of marysville said that it is gone. a storm chasers and local news crews have been capturing some of the footage. you can see the twister in
